a clue.”

We drove to the old house where my husband and I had lived before his disappearance.

I hadn't visited it in years.

The property had been sold after his supposed death.

The new owners had renovated the exterior, but the old oak tree remained beside the driveway.

I stood there remembering Lily running around it as a someone he no longer was?

And why had Lily been the one to discover it?

We reached the town just after sunset.

The address led to a modest house at the edge of a wooded
