him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause you&#39;re his wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The simplicity of the answer hurt.<\/p>\n<p>She had trusted the Then you made yourself the person controlling the structure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He sat down.<\/p>\n<p>For a long time, neither of us spoke.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, he whispered, \u201cI was afraid you&#39;d leave me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The confession was so quiet I almost didn&#39;t hear it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause you had your father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe always had money. Security.
